Bishop David M. Hudson gives opening prayer at the House of Delegates at the WV State Capitol in Charleston

"Almighty God as I stand before these men and women who have devoted their life to serving others my petition to you today is that you would grant each one of these legislative personnel the wisdom with which to direct the affairs of the state of West Virginia.

"I ask that you would guide them in their personal endeavors and cause integrity to be the shining character trait that the citizens of this great state see in them.

"I humbly ask that you dear Lord would be a strength to each of them not just in their body but in their mind and spirit Allow the warmth of your love to envelop them causing their hearts to act in ways that honor you and benefit the people of West Virginia.
Grant each one of them peace as they face the monumental task of creating legislation that maintains a smooth operation in all areas of West Virginia. Inspire them to make this state a stronger entity, full of confidence and courage to face an uncertain future.

"Let there be tranquility within and without these walls between each of them as they gather to discuss from differing viewpoints how they feel best to operate our state government.

"Finally Lord I pray that you would allow your angelic host to protect them, not just within these walls and chambers but as they go about their personal lives spending precious time with their families and friends. And let them not forget from whence they obtain all of these traits and benefits.

"I ask all of these things in the name of Almighty God our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!"
