Both the lower and higher courts got it wrong. The mother's right to choose a religious school did not offend any religious views of the father, but the father's choice of a public school did indeed offend the religious convictions of the mother. The court's decision to overrule the mother's right in favor of the father's right tramples religious liberty. A ruling the other way would not have.
